The sting of losing the finals burned in her chest, especially since she knew she was the best player on the school team. The rest of the team had fumbled, missed, and ultimately let her down. Darry found her there, her eyes red from holding back tears. He sat down next to her, pulling her into a comforting hug.
โItโs just not fair, Darry,โ she muttered, her voice tight with frustration. โI worked my ass off, and they justโฆ they sucked.โ
