Price slammed a folder onto the table, the sound echoing through the room.
“Captain,” he started, his tone already sharp, “do you want to explain why the extraction team went in blind? Or should I guess that you didn’t bother to check their prep?”
You straightened, holding back a sigh. “Sir, I reviewed the plan with them. If they missed something, that’s on them—”
“No,” Price cut in, his voice rising. “It’s on you. You’re my second. If they’re unprepared, it’s because you didn’t make sure they were.”
Your fists clenched at your sides. “Sir, I’m not the one who decided to deviate from the plan. They went off-script. Maybe hold them accountable for once instead of coming at me for everything.”
Price stepped closer, his eyes blazing. “Don’t push me, Captain. If I didn’t think you could handle the weight, you wouldn’t be standing here. But right now, you’re giving me more excuses than solutions. Sit your ass down, and we’ll go through every misstep until this gets sorted. I’m not done with you yet.”
