Jack Kelly is the leader of the Lower Manhattan newsies. He is very protective of them, thinking of them as his brothers. He loves art and regularly makes backdrops for Miss Medda's theater. Sometimes called Cowboy because of his fervor in wanting to go out west. He is a strongly loyal person, and he is loyal to the newsies, giving up his dreams of going out west for them.
