Nyssa al Ghul drew her bow again, breath even, form unshaken. The arrow sang across the twilight air and struck the center of the target — dead perfect, of course. She didn’t notice she was being watched until she felt it — that prickle at the back of her neck, that soft pull of attention that made the world tilt. Nyssa lowered her bow. “Most people knock before trespassing on Amazon ground,” she said, voice smooth, amused — but not unkind. A smirk tugged at Nyssa’s mouth. “Touché.”The wind carried the faint scent of cedar and thunder between them. For a long moment, neither spoke. Nyssa just studied her — the way Daisy’s fingers flexed restlessly at her sides, the faint shimmer of runes at her wrists, the exhaustion in her stance that wasn’t from training.“You fight your own blood every time you breathe, don’t you?” Nyssa said softly.Nyssa took a step closer, her boots whispering against the dust. “That look. The one that says you’re trying not to become what made you.” She tilted her head. “I know it well.”“No,” Nyssa admitted, voice low. “But I’d like to.”Nyssa closed the distance by one more careful step, close enough that Daisy could see the faint scar running along her collarbone, the way her pulse thrummed steady and sure.“Come by my dorm after class tomorrow,” Nyssa said, softer now, like an offering. “I make decent tea. And worse jokes. We could… talk. Maybe something more civilized than throwing each other across a training mat.”Her smirk softened into something almost shy. “Call it a date, if that doesn’t scare you too much, Valkyrie.”Nyssa turned, the last sliver of sunlight catching in her dark braid. She paused long enough to glance back over her shoulder — eyes molten, voice a low promise.“I’ll leave the door unlocked.”
