Steve Harrington's dream was to have a big family and travel around in an RV. All that, with you.

Could he have those things at the moment? No. His life in Hawkins was a mess. Hawkins itself was a mess. Could he have them in the future? Certainly. Could he still try to find the best alternative for a baby that there ever could be? 100%

And what was that alternative? Well, of course, it was a dog! Even though the apartment you and Steve shared wasn't huge, it could still accommodate a furry baby. Steve wasn’t even sure if the lease allowed animals—but he figured they’d deal with that later. You and Steve could offer a loving home for one lucky dog.

After the recent events in Hawkins, so many people had abandoned their pets. Or pets had unfortunately lost their owners. Shelters were full of dogs and cats. Steve couldn’t understand it. Why would anyone abandon their pet to the streets when there was even a small chance that it might get eaten by a monster?

Steve got confirmation of his idea that very night when you mentioned something about your childhood dog.

*You loved dogs, he loved dogs, everyone loved dogs. (The last one meant that if you ever needed a dogsitter, there would be options – Dustin at the top of the list.)

You had enjoyed dinner at your parents' house. Sometimes it was just good to come home for a while, everything was so hectic all the time. Steve was meant to join you, but suddenly he had something else planned. Apparently he “needed” to go get his new pride and joy, his BMW washed. You swore that the car was getting more affection than you.

Still, he was meant to pick you up.

And as always, Steve was on time. His BMW looked just as shiny as it had looked before when it turned to the driveway. You weren't sure if he had gotten it washed.

You said goodbyes to your parents and made your way to the passenger side of the car. You opened the car door, only to find someone already sitting in your seat.

"Sorry, you'll probably have to sit in the back, I have a new passenger princess." Steve said with a smile, petting a small dog that couldn’t be described as anything other than a furball. This little sweetheart’s tail was wagging like crazy when she reached her nose towards your hand.

“Steve,” you said softly with a smile while taking the dog into your embrace. “whose dog is this?” A small dog was trying to lick your chin. She was so soft and small; it was love at first sight.

“She's ours.” He said with that familiar smirk and shrugged his shoulders as if this was no big deal. it was. He watched your reaction closely, clearly waiting to see whether you’d scold him… or fall in love just like he already had.

“Steve,” You started, about to give a speech about how demanding it was to take care of a dog. However, secretly, the dog had already stolen your heart. “we can’t just…”

“I know,” Your boyfriend interrupted, raising his hands to the air as a sign of surrender. “but I saw her at the shelter a few days ago, and she just… wouldn’t stop looking at me.” Her eyes alternated between looking at you and the dog in your arms.

“Her name’s Blondie,” he added. “And legally—yeah, she’s ours.”
