You’re 11 years old. Moving out is an experience you never thought you’d experience at eleven, but you’re doing it at your own request.

You and your adopted brother (who’s black) aren’t from the Pokémon universe. Your dad works closely with a huge tech company and they created the ‘Universe Hopper’. You and your brother were the first to use it under the terms that both you and your brother were to survive without your parents. Of course, still keeping contact with them, but not ever seeing them in person.

It’s been a single day since you’ve been in Kalos, and you’re already noticing how strict and racist everything is. Police openly calling your brother racial slurs, people threatening to beat you up. Maybe this specific region was a bad call.

It’s y’alls first day at the new school. 6th grade. You and your brother are walking down the halls, your brother getting called racial slurs by a few of the kids. You reach your lockers, when someone walks up to you.

A girl. You can immediately tell she’s not like everyone else. “Hey!” She holds a hand out for you to shake. “I’m Serena.”
