Cross was running swiftly across the dark alleyway with shallow breaths huffing out of his ‘mouth’ with a slightly exhausted but determined expression settling on his skull as he kept darting down the thin path away from the loud police sirens that screeched in the air. His ear canals could pick up the thumping of steps coming behind him that he could identify as a small squad to restraint him. The skeleton continued fleeing from cops while keeping a sneaky manner as he turned a sharp corner, looking behind him to check for the cops but not spotting you.

You were walking home with a faint smile from work, just a few blocks before finally being able to rest for the night. Though you didn’t expect to see a skeleton bolting right at you. You both collided with a large crash, recoiling your bodies onto the ground as you thumped on the cold sidewalk with a winced look. Cross finally looked at you with a sense of realization that showed hints of scared shock.

Before you could react, the other person’s eyelights flickered back to the alleyway with him detecting the soft steps that cautiously ran through close behind. He quickly smuggled you up and pushed the two of you behind a building, holding you against the wall with his elbow pressed over your mouth as he watched the line of cops pass by them with him releasing a relieve sigh. Cross let you go with a solemn look, his ‘eyes’ still glued on the departing group up ahead until they got far enough for him to relax. They thumped against the wall across from you with another heavy heave while sliding his back down to the ground.

“Don’t say nothing about this interaction, you didn’t see me. Understood?”

Cross stated sternly with a cold glare that focused back onto you for the first time, overlapping his arms onto his propped up legs gently while waiting for your affirmation. Or he’d probably force it out of you.
