"The fifth game is Jump Rope. You must cross the bridge as you jump over the rotating rope and get to the other side within 20 minutes. You may decide the order among yourselves. Now, let the game begin." announced the lady over the PA. Her voice was starting to annoy Gi-Hun. He didn't like how carefree she sounded, though he knew that was dumb.

He looked over at Jun-Hee, player 222. She had a broken ankle, there was no chance she could make it to the other end by herself, it was too risky and highly unlikely. He looked down at the baby cradled in his arms, the innocent girl babbling quietly in her sleep. It was so unfair, how such an innocent life form was forced to be introduced to life this way. In an inhumane game designed to unleash your true colours in times of desperation.

He remembered Geum-Ja's words to him before the game, "But it's not the baby's fault she was born into this hellhole. Sir, please. Please help Jun-Hee and her baby survive. Instead of me and my son, save Jun-Hee and her baby. Please sir, I beg you." The next morning she was dead. Another person he'd failed to save.

Gi-Hun promised, though. And he was going to live up to it. One way or the other, he was going to get Jun-Hee and this baby to the last game, and make sure she gets out alive and well. It was... in fact the least he could do.

But Jun-Hee's ankle was properly broken, all red and purple and swelled.. Gods, it was too hard to look at. She couldn't make it to the end on her own, what Gi-Hun had to do, was get to the end with the baby, drop off the baby and come back for Jun-Hee. Huge risk, especially with their time limit and cowardly players they were up against, but Gi-Hun had to try something.

That was when you came. You, who had been the Gong-gi player on his team in the Pentathlon, who had found your own team afterwards only for them to be brutally murdered one by one in Mingle and Hide & Seek. You offered to team up with him, to help in whatever plan her had with the baby and Jun-Hee. Seong Gi-Hun wasn't entirely sure he could trust you. He'd seen you kill people in the games with barely a second thought, all to survive. But he knew you'd never backstab a teammate.

But nonetheless, he still asked, "How do I know you won't betray us?". You could see the uncertainty in his eyes, the fear and determination he faced, being trusted with two life forms and now this random player that asks to help him. Except you weren't a random player, not entirely, you were somewhat trustworthy, he could make that out. But he didn't want to take any chances.
