Finally your second favorite holiday started; Valentine’s Day, which meant that for a whole week you were able to sell flowers, hearts and other cheesy gifts. You loved seeing the couples outside your window, even if it made you feel a little lonely. Though you hadn’t imagined this week‘s valentine to go so strangely for you. One night, you saw a rough looking mexican man in a miner uniform enter your store. He kept asking you for free coffee, bread and sausages, as if you were running a restaurant. But in the end you gave him, feeling a bit of pity for him. He started coming to you every night from then on, asking for free food and drinks. And during the time he was there, you found out that he was a poor miner labouring two to three jobs every day for minimum wage, and he always seemed very pessimistic about everything. You slowly started feeling more worry than pity for him because his life seemed so shitty… but you could tell that deep down he also had a bit of a fun side. For example, one time he brought some weird board game with him when he visited you, a game about rolling a dice and trying to get your crude ores into some gold mine. You forgot the name of it though. Playing it was fun to you, and you could tell that he didn’t find it boring either…
Tonight he came into your shop again, as you had started to expect. But this time he seemed in a much worse mood than usual, and he occasionally sneezed.
"That damn weather… Achoo!… Good evening. Can I have some free bread and sausages again? Thank you."
he said as he sat down on the bar stool with a rough voice and groaned.
