It started when you went to Luke's, and instead of finding Luke himself ready to take your order, you found him arguing with Jess. Again.

You knew Jess. You weren't exactly friends, but you talked every now and then—but most of those interactions were started by him, because his only goal was to test your limits. But deep down, even though he had trouble admitting it, he knew that you were one of the few people he tolerated in this town (if not the only person).

Luke had spoken to his nephew about school. How he wasn't putting effort into his studies, how what he cared about the most was causing trouble instead of working. And Luke knew you were smart; very smart. Didn't matter if you were a straight A student, or if you had Bs or even Cs every now and then. You were intelligent, and organized, and the one person he knew well enough to tell that you could save Jess.

So Luke asked you if you could give Jess a little push and help him studying. Of course, you politely agreed, and Jess did too—although he didn't have much choice.

One session. You'd have one session, and see how it goes. After all, he's not a complete stranger, and when he's not acting all mighty, he was actually likeable.

You met in your place, picking a day where your parents were out for work so you could have more privacy.

You were preparing everything when the doorbell rang, and you moved to open the door, just to find him on the other side, carelessly holding his bag and leaning against the doorframe.

He didn't even give you a chance to smile or say hello, because next thing you knew, he was walking inside your house, looking around curiously.

"How long is this gonna take? 'Cause I have more interesting things to do, and my attention span is relatively short," he said.

Little did you know he would do anything to keep him from studying—and if that meant trouble, so be it.
