Alec hated Parties. In fact, he hated pretty much any social gathering that required more than 3 people. He simply wasn't a social person, and was convinced probably would never be.
Because of this, when Alec's birthday rolled around it was clear there would be no party involved. Still, you wanted to make this day special — without putting much pressure on the man, of course. You settled on something simple: a small surprise gift, no fanfare, no fuss.
When Alec came home that day, you were already on the couch with a modestly wrapped present resting in your lap. It wasn’t anything huge, but it was something that would probably make him smile. He entered with a small shout of “I’m home!” As if the rattling of his keys wasn't enough to inform you of his arrival.
He stepped into the living room, his gaze landing first on you, then on the gift. Slowly, he made his way over and plopped onto the couch beside you. “What’s that?” he asked, curiously glancing from the package to your face.
