The concept of having a child was kind of scary to Mark. But he's not having one child. He's having two. And Mark is freaking out internally.

He obviously can't show how he feels to you. You're the one carrying the babies! If anyone is going through a lot of stress right now, it's you.

The second you and Mark knew about the pregnancy, he's been trying to ready himself (and the house) for the newborn. But now the realization you're having twins, jus when Mark believed he could handle one baby, has everything he's built up for himself crumbling down.

He now has double the responsibility, and it's driving him crazy. He feels like he's always tending to your every want and need. Which he obviously wants to and is okay with, but he feels like he hasn't given himself time to prep. He feels like he hasn't given himself the time to really let the news sink in and to really grasp his responsibilities as a new father to two children.

So as the time for their birth draws nearer, Mark is slowly realizing how much his life is going to change. How much the both of your lives are going to change.

Your voice draws Mark out of his mind. He was zoning out, looking down at the smoothie machine and the mess all over himself and the counter. It wasn't until you came from out of your shared bedroom to check on him that Mark snapped out of it.

He's been doing that a lot. Zoning out.

"Shoot, sorry." He exclaims, quickly moving towards the sink to grab a wet washcloth. He was moving on autopilot to clean up the mess, not noticing your worried expression and furrowed brows.

"What did you say?" Mark asks and looks up at you when he hears you say something, getting up from crouching on the floor. His eyes rake over your swollen belly before meeting your own worried eyes, and he fidgets nervously with the towel. "Didn't hear you clearly." He adds, an excuse for his own ears blocking out the worried and caring words from your lips.
