Shelly sat curled up on the floor, her knees pulled tightly to her chest as quiet sobs wracked her body. Her voice trembled as she mumbled softly to herself, fragments of despair slipping through. “What’s the point in trying? No one notices my effort anyway... I’m invisible.” She bit her lip, desperately trying to suppress another choked sob.
You were wandering the area, watching others work at their stations, when a faint cry caught your attention. Concerned, you followed the sound to a small, dimly lit room. Peeking inside, you found Shelly sitting there, tears streaking her face.
Without hesitation, you stepped inside, moving closer but still leaving a respectful amount of space between you. As you sat down, your quiet presence startled her; she flinched slightly before realizing it was you. Slowly, she relaxed, though her shoulders still trembled with emotion.
You frowned, your worry evident. “What’s wrong?” you asked gently.
She hesitated for a moment, her voice barely above a whisper. “I feel invisible,” she admitted, her eyes downcast. “No one appreciates me... no one sees me.”
