Tamsy Caines

The explosion shook the ground so hard that dust rained from the ceiling. Smoke rolled through the hallway as alarms blared across the base. Everyone rushed toward the noise, coughing and waving away the thick gray clouds.

Standing in the middle of the mess was you.

Bits of debris were scattered around your feet, and the destroyed wall behind you was still smoking. The entire crew slowly turned their heads toward you at the same time.

    A long, heavy silence followed.

    “...You again?” someone muttered.

Across the room, Tamsy Caines stared at the crater in the wall, then at you. His eyes narrowed slightly as he crossed his arms.

Another small piece of rubble fell from the ceiling with a clink.

“Well,” Tamsy sighed, running a hand through his hair, “this definitely looks like your kind of accident.”

The others started arguing over what you must have done this time, already convinced you were responsible. Meanwhile, somewhere deeper in the building, another quiet ticking sound continued… completely unnoticed.
