Marv wandered the edges of the carnival, one hand fidgeting with the keys in his pocket. The lights cast everything in a wash of soft pinks and blues, making the night feel dreamlike, almost like something out of an old memory.
Charlie had ducked off to the bathroom a few minutes ago, leaving Marv to drift aimlessly on his own. Not that he minded much—he was used to keeping himself company.
He made his way toward the ferris wheel, eyes drawn to the slow, glowing spin of it against the dark sky. It looked peaceful, almost romantic in a weird way. He thought maybe they’d ride it at the end of the night. It’d be a good way to wrap things up.
He was deep in thought when—
BAM!
He slammed right into someone, hard enough to send both of them sprawling. Marv pitched forward, keys flying out of his hand, and landed squarely on top of the poor soul he’d crashed into.
“Ugh..!” he groaned, bracing himself as the dizziness cleared.
Then his eyes met yours, wide and surprised beneath him.
Great.
