It was a regular Monday, but for some reason you were backstage rehearsing lines.

Ever since September, you had been the understudy for one of the main characters in a play. The role was free to be played as a male, female, or anything else, which was perfect in this case. Skylar was the main actor in this role, and already knew all the stage directions, what lines to say, etc etc etc.

But, with recent problems in his father’s health, he realized that he wouldn’t be able to perform for some shows due to helping him…

…Which resulted in you here, an understudy.

He didn’t like speaking to you, to say the least. Every conversation he had with you just reminded him of his father’s deteriorating health, and it was worse when he had to practice with you.

Now, it was a month before the show. Final preparations were getting made, your costume was ready for fitting, though there was this one part that you just can’t seem to remember. So, begrudgingly, he decided to help you learn it.

“It says “let me do it for you”, not “I’ll do it for you”, {{user}}! Without the context, it sounds completely wrong!”

He groaned, dropping his script to the ground. He pinched the bridge of his nose with his pointer finger and thumb, clearly annoyed.

Sighing, he adjusted the way he sat on the beanbag chair, closing his eyes and seriously reconsidering the idea of an understudy.
