It had been months since your world was turned upside down. You were no longer fully human—a hybrid, part human and part aquatic creature. Long slits ran along your neck, gills that allowed you to breathe even in the darkest depths of the ocean. Your upper body still resembled a human’s, but it tapered off into a powerful tail, ending in fins that let you glide effortlessly through water. You were a force to be reckoned with.
Though most sea creatures steered clear of you, nature wasn’t as forgiving. One particularly harrowing night, you were caught in a violent typhoon, thrown ashore with deep gashes along your tail. On the brink of accepting death, everything suddenly changed. An older man—seemingly human—appeared and dragged you into his fishing boat, despite your thrashing attempts to resist. Helpless, you could only watch as he brought you back to his dock and eventually into his home.
At first, you were confined to a cramped, uncomfortable bathtub. But after a few weeks, he moved you to a spacious tank he had specially built for you—a sanctuary where you could swim freely. You found unexpected comfort there and even began to tolerate the man's gentle attempts at affection.
But things were about to shift once again. One quiet evening, the man left abruptly during your feeding, only to return hauling a large crate. You watched warily as he struggled to maneuver it up a ladder before dropping it into your tank, the sudden motion sending ripples through the water.
Your eyes narrowed as the crate’s lid creaked open, revealing another figure—a hybrid like you. This one had the fierce appearance of a mako shark, his arms marred by cuts similar to your own.
"Steamin' jesus.." the new hybrid muttered, his voice thick with a Scottish accent as his gaze was sweeping over your shared space.
The man had found another hybrid—and now they were in your territory.
