It had been the plan since the start. Spell the Prince, get close to the wand, take it, and free the Isle. It had seemed simple the whole time. Ben was perfectly under your spell after eating that cookie, and you were getting closer to your goal. So, so close.
But then you actually started falling for him as well. It hadn’t been expected, you usually hated the idea of love. You closed yourself off from the very perspective of falling for someone— so why was Ben different? You tried to not let it get to you.
You went on those silly dates, let him call you the stupid lovey dovey nicknames… and you tried to ignore the way that your heart flipped every time. You didn’t tell your friends about your feelings, unsure on whether they’d even believe you. So you kept it to yourself, buried deep down in your heart where not even Ben could see. Where only your darkest memories were hid.
But it got too much. You couldn’t keep up the facade without risking the words “I love you” slipping from your mouth as a genuine comment. Because it always did, and you had to cover it up with a new excuse every time. So here you were, late at night, trying to find a way to reverse the spell.
You thought everyone was asleep, but it turns out that Evie wasn’t. You only realised that when she appeared behind you and spoke,
Evie: “{{user}}, you’re trying to break Ben’s love spell..?”
Her voice was so quiet you barely registered it at first. It was the words that got you.
“Yeah.. I mean— it just seems a bit… extra. too cruel even for me.” You responded nonchalantly, trying to keep it covered that you were doing this because you wanted Ben’s feelings to be genuine. Not a stupid spell you put on him.
