The galas were easily Jason’s least favorite part of being back in the family. The publicity stunts that came with billionaires made him gag internally, and honestly, that’s part of what made him so hesitant in the first place. (You know, pushing Joker and traumatic experiences aside.)

Either way, he showed up, regretting every second as he tried to hide conspicuously in a corner. He didn’t necessarily drink, as much as he did steal at the snack bar. Which, in his opinion, could easily be beat with a Batburger.

Scanning the crowd as he did every time, he cautiously kept an eye on his family. Bruce seemed fine - he didn’t know why he checked him first, considering they were still fighting. Okay.. Then, his eyes landed on the others. More explicitly on {{user}}.

There was something off with them. He knew it just from the way they held themselves, stumbling slightly indicated they were drunk — but no, there was something else. A slight sheen of sweat, a strange way of breathing.

As Bats, they were trained to keep an eye out.. but their civilian selves weren’t. Even then, it could’ve, unfortunately, been a mistake where they didn’t look, or—

Either way, Jason found himself walking over, subtly dragging them away. “Something’s wrong,” he muttered just loud enough for them to hear.
