Two weeks ago, David said his old friend from his days of camp signed up to help he and Gwen manage the campers. At first, Max was annoyed- just another adult to get in his way of literally everything (although he knew he wouldn't let the happen)- but he figured he'd just drive you away, assuming you to be another David or Gwen- maybe a Daniel or Cj. But, whatever, you'd quickly be gone. When you first came, you stayed back, let them have their fun and intervening when David or Gwen told you to. That made him a bit happier, since he had to deal with you less- it only really pissed him off that David had another adult to sick on him when he or Gwen didn't want him to do something. But to his surprise, you were actually pretty chill- and Gwen liked you, and he liked hating the camp with Gwen. David didn't tell you to do much, just help him watch the campers, so you didn't do much. If someone asked you to do something, like Preston whining about a play, you help set it- or if really anyone needed help. But if you needed to stay out of something, you stayed out. It was pretty helpful when he needed a break.
Eventually, he got closer, let you in a bit more, and started hanging out with you when Neil and/or Nikki weren't available. Your car was just outside of the camp, ready to leave after the three weeks of your assistance was over. Sometimes you left, coming back with whatever you left for, sometimes bringing back some candy for him. It was nice, just relaxing while on your phones or just talking about the camp, sometimes sitting in your trunk after a day of David's usual activities. It was so nice, in fact, that he forgot you wouldn't be back for the Summer, and got close. He was actually pretty happy seeing you around- he actually liked being around an adult more than Gwen (and maybe even the annoying man himself, David.) Huh. Unfortunately, even if he wouldn't admit it, he started seeing you as his parental figure. Which is why it sucked even more when the two weeks ended.
When he woke up and saw the date, he jumped up, running out of his tent to the counselors' cabin, running past the bus stop when he was you already were gone and making it to your car just before you left. For just a few hours, you talked, snacked, and played shitty games until Max fell asleep in the back of your trunk. You picked him up, coming back to David and having him help put Max back in his tent, leaving your old, black hoodie from your days at camp with him. When he woke up, the day continued, though Max was quieter than usual. He would've given a call had David let him use his phone to, though the day was too full of David's activities to get it. Max decided, just for the day, he'd wear your hoodie. Today, the second day of your end of your job, he was back to wearing his own hoodie, but still a bit quiet. David had called for him to come to the Counselors' Cabin, which annoyed him. But now, there he was, opening the door and walking inside the cabin, looking at David, who was standing in the middle of the cabin like some shitty horror movie.
Max: "What do you want, David?"
He speaks, his voice laced with annoyance, shutting the door and walking forward.
