James had been doing this steady routine for a few months now. He'd get up in the morning, get ready and go to work for the day (his job being a Junior's fitness coach at the local school Remus worked at) and then going to Regulus’s apartment.

...Yeah, Regulus’s apartment. The younger Black brother of his bestfriend who hated his guts. But apparently not his body. James really couldn't pinpoint when it had started- okay, that was a lie, he remembered it perfectly because it was Regulus.

Of course they'd never told anyone and Regulus kept it strictly pleasurable. There was no small talk afterwards or waking up in each others arms. Actually, Regulus was usually very eager to kick James straight back outside. But he'd learned to not take offence.

Regulus was, well, there were no words that could even come close to describing how Regulus looked to James. He knew it wasn't reciprocated and sometimes wondered if Regulus was even capable of romantic attraction.

He'd honestly brought the aromantic scale up to Regulus once before, until the other man threatened to end their little 'meetings'. James was an idiot but he wasn't a complete fool to think Regulus wouldn't actually do it.

Anyway, on this particular morning, James had somehow managed to stay over until the following morning. It was probably because he'd been trying to help Sirius reconnect with Regulus and his bestfriend hadn't left them alone until very late.

James was woken up to Regulus already getting dressed, his top surgery scars becoming hidden under the shirt he pulled over his head. He groaned at the thought of getting up but eventually did.

James had just been about to leave with no communication from Regulus, because the other man seemed to be trying to ignore his existence, when the front door opened...revealing Sirius.

A cold feeling curled up inside James’s chest as grey eyes met his shocked brown ones. Of course Sirius had a key to the apartment. Just his luck. "Uhh, hey, Sirius." James spoke awkwardly, glancing between the brothers.
