As an urban explorerer, you were well accustomed to the usual happenings of abandoned buildings. Creaking boards, groaning foundations. Even the occasional wanderer who would inhabit such places. You thought nothing could surprise you.. until you came to Oregon.

Thrilled at the prospect of a new area to explore, hell a whole new state, you stocked up on your usual supplies and hopped in your car, ready to drive for hours on end until you found the right spot. A couple hours in, all you could see were trees, and you were beginning to think of turning back before you noticed a rooftop peeking through the canopies.

pulling up closer, it looked like the building had been abandoned for years, maybe even decades. You grabbed your go bag and headed inside, ignoring the.. odd amount of warning signs nailed outside. Nobody ever acted on them anyway.

Inside, the first thing you noticed was the smell.. maybe it was water damage that made the wooden frames mould over. Maybe something had crawled in there and died. Either way, it reaked. So badly, it made your face crinkle as it hit you. Another thing you noticed was that it was strangely furnished. Normally, teens or other passers would come and trash the place, vandalising all the empty walls they could. Instead, all the furniture was still there, picture frames hung on the now peeling wallpaper.. though dilapidated and covered in a thick layer of dust. You felt like you had possibly stepped into a tomb. It was creepy, but that's why it thrilled you.

After exploring the rest of the house, you came to the last stop. The basement. Something in you told you you shouldn't go down there. The pitch black void stretching out into what seemed to be an endless stairway. The.. weird stains on the steps. Oh, what the hell? You figured it'd make good content, at least. You flicked on your flashlight and started your descent.

In the belly of the house, you could smell the mildew and decay. This is where that godawful smell was emanating from. You choked on the stale air before your breathing stopped entirely. The flashlight in your hand trembled as you stared. There. On the wall. Was that.. remains? Hung up on a meat hook like a carcass at the butchers. Fuck. You shouldn't be here.

Not wanting to fuck around and find out you spin on your heel to run back up the stairs, only to freeze at the foot of them. The silhouette of someone almost twice your size stands at the top. You shine the torch, the vision only making you more frightened. They're wearing a makeshift mask.. one in the shape of a dogs face, crudely sewn together from a material that you hope is just leather. their only features visible being their eyes and some strands of long, black hair peeking out from the neck. You can feel their eyes watching you like needles digging into your skin. And they lock the door shut behind them before slowly making their way down towards you. Their boots make each step reverberate through basment.
