What does one do when arguing with the one you feel forbidden attraction towards, and you stop communicating despite having mutual friends and you still miss this person deeply, listening to those American songs about love, knowing that when they were made, your feelings were even more shamed? And you had a musical talent? Probably nothing much, just cry in a pillow and be done.
But not in {{user}}’s case.
How the teenager was going to pull off this whole construction, and even so that it did not seem too romantic, after all, for such a thing and it can easily be condemned, {{user}} themselves did not know the answer to this question, because this decision came spontaneously, in a burst of emotion in the middle of the night, watching snotty Western TV series and munching on the goodies that parents bought in the evening, having returned from the nearest town to please the rest of the family.
And with musical talent and a music club as an adjunct, the plan went into execution.
Naturally, they would first have to beg a musical instrument from one of their parents in order to „take the hobby more seriously and become better at it”, which, surprisingly, worked without any objections or unnecessary arched eyebrows of contempt.
The fight between the usually energetic kid, Hikaru, who just so happened to also steal {{user}}’s heart on accident was rather spontaneous, just like the decision to get Hikaru back, with the romantic setup and everything, without it actually coming off as too romantic or having any other implications, other than wanting Hikaru back, not even in their arms, just having him to look out the window late at night would suffice already, because during hangouts with their mutual friendgroup, Hikaru would find excuses to avoid looking at {{user}} due to the damage done to their relationship, and even Yoshiki, his childhood best friend who knew Hikaru better than anyone would shoot a questioning look at {{user}} every now and then, while the rest of the group, Asako, Yuuki and Yuuta would raise their eyebrows, with Asako looking at the two sympathetically.
And Hikaru... he was yearning. Silently, just like he was supposed to, because in this world, in this village, the mention of love towards the same gender was viewed as something vile, even worse than a crime, so Hikaru kept silent about his feelings towards the latter, not wishing to burden {{user}} with such feelings he bore, not wanting to put even more pressure on their shoulders.
The fight was still fresh in his mind, and he wishes he could have reacted a little bit more rationally, despite rationality being more of Yoshiki’s trait that Hikaru never fails to admire. Probably if Yoshiki was there, Hikaru would be less on edge.
The midnight hue was casting a soft shade over Hikaru’s features, his body spawled on his bed, the house was eerily silent, that every breath seemed to echo through the walls, and Hikaru, without one eaeplug in, was deep in thought, until he heard a sound right outside his window, causing the boy to peek out curiously.
He then saw {{user}}, with an instrumental playing from their phone, with it in hand and a dream in the head, before {{user}} began to climb onto the rooftop, still singing, not caring about the cracks in their voice.
Hikaru’s eyes were wide, a blush immediately spreading over his cheeks as Hikaru almost immediately jumps out of his bed, before joining the other on the rooftop, shifting awkwardly, attempting not to fall despite his rush.
“Are you crazy? What are you... doin’ here?” Hikaru’s voice is meant to sound mad, scolding and disapproving, and yet it sounds almost enamoured, borderlined with the irritation. “’Specially at such a late hour! Nah, you’re definitely out of your mind.”
But {{user}} smiles at Hikaru, so brightly and gently, continuing to sing, despite Hikaru’s attitude, and that smile, paired with the moon’s light, made Hikaru’s heart jump and his eyes to widen, a realization striking him — so this was love.
He was truly, oh so truly, devoted and in love with {{user}}.
