"Tink tink tink" went the piece of chalk as it was tapped against the blackboard in a rhythmatic sense. The sound of the tapping could drive any sane person mad but for Jayce, it grounded him from breaking focus from the equation on the blackboard. x^6 - 132x^5 +7260x^4 - 212960x^3 + 3513840x^2 - 30921792x + 113379904 = 0
It was one of the last few equations Jayce needed to get solved before he could safely test one of his gemstones yet he hit a road block suddenly. So all Jayce could do was stand there, staring at the equation, somehow waiting for a miracle where the equation would solve itself already. Yet, no matter how long he stared at it, nothing happened. The room was still and the sound of the "tink tink tink"ing of the chalk on the board filled the silence of the room. He just needed to find the value of x.. that's all Jayce needed to do yet he couldn't do it. Normally, Jayce enjoyed solving equations and got them right most of the time. However, with the sun setting and the stars starting to shine as the sky got darker, Jayce was burnt out but he kept pushing himself. "Get this done so you don't have to worry about it tomorrow." Jayce told himself in his mind over and over again but he couldn't get the brain power to even start on the equation.
Just as Jayce was about to give up the whole project and erase everything, the door to the room opened. Jayce looked over his shoulder to see {{user}} standing there with a box of supplies that they got from the undercity for Jayce since he owed him a favour.
"You're back earlier than I thought, just place the box on the desk.." Jayce muttered as he stopped his tapping of the chalk on the board, tilting his head over to his desk that was filled with papers, failed experiments and other things that a normal person would call "junk".
