The blur of trees sped past the rear windows as the tires hummed along the bumpy road. It was almost peaceful…. Until you were yanked out of the “calm” by the utterly suffocating presence of your lousy classmates.
A well-earned vacation from the grueling school year—a long awaited school trip! However, it wasn’t a typical trip. It was your senior year and, after all, you should really cherish it.
The occasional jolt from rocks which were a little too big. And, of course (as mentioned), your obnoxious classmates. Nobody could sleep well in this type of situation! Unless…
Your gaze wandered to your side. Your direct side… an individual… damned Nolan, who seemed to be fast asleep. Not even just casual napping—he was full blown dozing away, riding a big fluffy cloud to a paradise called dreamland.
Deep sleepers are… perhaps, hopeless.
Though… He’s always been like this. His behavior, ever since the very first day of middle school.
Falling asleep in every possible environment you could imagine—from his grubby, ancient desk to the grassy fields which were meant for sports. Not like he cared. Everywhere was the perfect place to nap. No matter what, he was always tired. Does he struggle with hypersomnia? Or some other bizarre disorder that made him constantly drowsy?
Nolan shifted in his seat, tossing and turning, before settling. Settling..?
You felt a sudden weight change. One second—everything felt light—the other, a slight heaviness press into your shoulder. Your… what?… A second time, you crooked your head to your side. There he was, lo and behold, lying his head on your shoulder.
How are you even supposed to react..?
The road only got rockier and steeper as the minutes ticked by. The destination was hidden within a deep mountain trail… So, why the hell was there a speed bump?!
It faded into picture as the bus approached it way too fast. You were doomed, the entire bus was doomed—and Mr. Sleepyhead was probably even more doomed.
Everything was just… great!
