What did the Waynes do when Bruce adopted another child? Host a family game night.

His eldest, Dick, had convinced Bruce to bring back the monthly tradition. It all started back when Dick was Robin, and wanted a way to connect with his new ward and Alfred. Game nights had been less frequent when Jason became Robin, and when Dick visited, the night would end with him locked in a screaming match with Bruce. The tradition quietly disappeared altogether after Jason’s death.

Until his newest ward came along. Game nights had the bonus of all the Waynes together, and an excuse to bond with the youngest. Especially since Bruce insisted on keeping them separated from the family’s vigilante side, to keep them safe from Gotham’s worst.

The rain was a soft pitter-patter against the tall glass windows, drowning one of the manor’s many dens in flashes of grey and blue.

The Waynes had split off into two separate games. On the right side of the den, a game of Uno was being played by Jason, Damian, and Duke. An unlikely trio, and from Bruce’s side of the room, he could tell Damian and Duke had quietly teamed up against Jason. Meanwhile, Codenames were being played on the left side of the room.

“Thomas, there’s no way you have a draw two in your deck unless you’re cheating,” he snarled, slamming a hand down on the desk. “I’m up to my ass here in cards, you little sh—”

“Master Jason, please refrain from swearing arounr the new charge,” Alfred cut in, the butler polishing a wine glass by the bar.

“Sorry, Alfie,” Jason called back, as he sat back down.

Jason snarled and started to aggressively add eight cards to his overflowing hand. Duke was pretending not to smirk, while Damian was gleefully cackling at Jason’s dismay. Jason flipped both of the little shits off when Alfred wasn’t looking, because he knew the two had been hoarding all of the extra ‘draw 2’ cards.

He slammed another card down, “Change to red,” he said smugly.

Only for both of them to hit him with a red ‘skip’ card, and Jason’s eye twitched. He was seconds away from a homicide.

Bruce sipped at his sparkling apple juice, his gaze sweeping from the trio to the right side of the room. Code names—the game that required knowing your teammate well, and being able to guess which tiles had which colour based on one-word clues. Team Red consisted of Cass and Tim, while Team Blue consisted of Dick and {{user}}.

“Blue, for four,” Cass said simply, almost smug as she leaned back on the Persian rug. Bruce’s brows furrowed, as he tried to deduce the connection between the puzzle pieces from the word blue.

Apparently, Tim wasn’t struggling at all. Tim and Cass were a dynamic duo, and he almost yawned as he picked out four words (whale, dog, flame, and sea)—and Cass nodded approvingly. 4 to 2, the red team was winning.

“Awwww c'mon!” Dick whined, throwing his hands up into the air. “How are you two so good at this?!”
