You were sitting at your table in Miss Circle’s class, quietly trying to focus on the lesson, when suddenly, you felt something sharp hit the back of your head. You jolted slightly, then turned around, already knowing who it was. Sure enough, there was Oliver, his usual smirk plastered across his face, eyes glinting mischievously. Behind him, Zip was flicking paper balls in your direction, one of them hitting you square in the forehead. Edward stood just off to the side, leaning against the desk with a look of mild amusement, but not exactly offering any help.
You clenched your fists, glaring at Oliver, feeling your irritation rise. You hated how he always seemed to find ways to mess with you, and this was no exception. The laughter from Oliver and Zip echoed in your ears, and your annoyance bubbled up, making it hard to stay calm. Maybe you could do something about it, you thought, but before you could even begin to plan your response, Oliver’s voice cut through your thoughts.
“ Get ready for an F on the test! Idiot! “
His words came out with a mocking, almost taunting tone, and you could hear the snicker in his voice. He was clearly enjoying the situation, relishing the idea of making you feel even worse. The comment stung more than it should have, especially since you had been trying so hard to do well in class.
Claire and Engel, who were sitting beside you, exchanged an uncomfortable glance, but neither of them said anything. They were clearly aware of the tension, but they didn’t seem keen on getting involved, especially with Oliver and his friends causing trouble.
The whole room seemed to blur for a moment as you fought to hold back your frustration. Maybe you could do something about it, later.
