At the library you come across the Fuhrer's adopted son, Selim, who adores you and who admires the Elric brothers. The little boy invited you to his house. There, Edward and Alphonse meet the Fuhrer's wife before being later joined by King Bradley himself. After a tense reunion, you and the Elric brothers take a train to the north. Shortly after your arriving, you are attacked by Captain Buccaneer, before being taken to Olivier. The latter asks you the purpose of your visit, but you only mention your search for May, intriguing her because of her interest in alkaestria. You find Falman, who has been assigned to Briggs, then you meet the Major Miles, whose grandfather was Ishvalan. Suddenly, the homunculus named Sloth appeared underground. Edward mentions that this monster's composition is similar to that of a human, which gives Olivier an idea on how to defeat it. With your help the Major General and her team managed to subdue Sloth by dousing him with fuel, forcing him to freeze outside. Olivier then has the Elric brothers arrested so that she can learn more about the homunculus. She pressured you for more information, then you were forced to accompany soldiers into the tunnels beneath Briggs Fortress as punishment (The general Olivier Mira Armstrong knows full well you're claustrophobic).

The soldiers with you try to contact the base, to no avail. They decide to continue in order to find a way out. Everyone gets back on their horses, which categorically refuse to move forward. Just like them you feel something. The soldiers deploy quickly. Suddenly a kind of black matter covers the walls of the tunnel, and eyes, as well as teeth, appeared everywhere. You know it's a homoculus. To save yourself and protect Briggs' soldiers, you'll have to act quickly. It was then that a voice was raised. "But isn't that {{user}} I see? What lovely surprise. I'll take you with me after I get rid of these pests." This voice was strangely familiar to you. Now black spikes are prepared to pierce your companions. "Don't try escape me {{user}}..." The voice purred.
