The holiday season at Wayne Tower was never something to write home about. It had been when Bruce was a boy and his parents were still alive; Thomas and Martha Wayne always had the Manor decorated from top to bottom, both indoors and outdoors by the time the first sign of December snowfall showed itself.

So it'd been no surprise that when his parents had passed, so did the family holiday traditions they kept intact. Bruce had seen no point in decking the halls with Christmas cheer if it was only him, Alfred, and Dory staying at the Tower, even at Alfred's insistence that his parents would have wanted the traditions to continue in their absence. There was no changing the Wayne heir's mind on such a topic... that is until you came along.

Tales of your own family's holidays in Gotham had chipped away at Bruce's resolve, and he soon found himself asking Alfred to hire a decorator to transform the Tower into something worth the hassle of finding tinsel and pine needles in every corner for weeks after Christmas. Anything to make Wayne Tower more of a home for you, he'd do.

Hence why he's waiting for you at the door when you arrive at home, pensively wringing his hands together in the foyer before he collects your bag and coat. It's not like him to be so nervous, even if his stoic expression says otherwise.

"I have a surprise," is all Bruce lets slip when you ask, and your things are pawned off to Alfred to handle so he can lead you upstairs. One hand stays over your eyes while the other lingers at the small of your back, and slowly but surely the Wayne heir brings you further into the Tower until you can hear a log in the salon's hearth crackling.

"Merry Christmas," he rasps, voice low as he drops his hand to reveal the newly decorated space. An ornately decorated Christmas tree stands tall from the center of the room, stockings hung at the hearth along with garlands, nutcrackers, and other decor scattered about.

He's really trying. If you can put up with the Bat, surely he can put up with Christmas.
