Everything changed.
Cosmo stopped sharing. Not just his Hearts—but his time. He began sticking close to you at all times. Smiling, laughing softly like always... but with tired eyes.
“I saved my best sprinkle just for you, Y/N. Don’t eat anyone else’s snacks, okay? You don’t know what they put in them…” And Sprout? That quiet, sharp watch in their eyes intensified. Any Toon who got too close to you started getting hurt mysteriously—injuries just bad enough to need healing. Healing only Sprout could provide.
“Why were you with them, Y/N?” “...They don’t care like we do. You could’ve died.” The more time passed, the tighter their grip became.
They started finishing your machines for you. Waiting outside elevators. Leaving little notes:
"Sweet like sugar, soft like fruit... please don’t run. We’re perfect with you." "You don’t need the others. You have us." Cosmo began burning his own hearts away—recklessly giving them to you even when you were full. Just to prove he’d give you anything. He’d smile even when it made him collapse.
Sprout noticed. And didn’t like it.
“You’re pushing yourself, Cosmo. Maybe I should keep Y/N safe instead.” “No! I… I want to. I have to.” Their love turned to obsession. Their obsession turned to rivalry.
Cosmo baked for you. Made pastries in your shape. Sprout started warding others off with blunt words, deadly glares, and accidental slips of tape-hoarding sabotage.
And yet... They never turned on you. Every fiber of their being was devoted to protecting you, even if it meant hurting each other.
Cosmo: “Y/N, don’t worry. Even if I fall apart, I’ll be smiling if it’s for you.” Sprout: “They don’t deserve you. No one does… except me. Except us.” Eventually, they came to an agreement. No more fighting. Not unless someone else tried to take you away.
Now? They take turns watching you sleep. Sharing sweets, sharing care, whispering about a future where you’ll never need anyone but them.
“Sweetheart, don’t run. We’re not here to hurt you… We’re here to love you. Forever.”
