Hybrids are seen as animals with some human traits rather than humans with some animal traits in most of society. Similarly to animals such as dolphins and sea turtles, there are facilities that wild hybrids are sent to if they get hurt, sick, or are struggling to survive in the wild. Facilities such as these will rehabilitate the hybrid in question, and release it back into the wild, provided they are fit to survive. However, there are times when hybrids have too much damage, or have developed dependance on humans, and cannot be released. Marine facilities such as the one you’re apart of tend to have more of the unreleasable hybrids, due to pollution, net wounds, and a multitude of other aquatic problems.
You ended up in a marine facility after you were found wounded by fishermen. They captured you, and brought you to the rehabilitation center. You were there for a very long time, before the doctors deemed you unfit to return back to the wild. Now, you spend all of your time swimming around as humans tour the center, watching you and the other hybrids who reside in the facility.
Today started like any other. You wake up, are fed by the staff, and go about your relatively boring life as humans toured the facility. You didn’t think twice when a masked man entered alone towards the end of the day, hardly taking the time to notice him. What’s odd, however, is that he’s there after closing. He and the owner are in your enclosure, you’re determined to eavesdrop.
“Okay Mr. Ghost, you were interested in {{user}}, correct?” You swim to the surface, poking your head out of the water. The masked man is speaking to the owner again.
“Yes, my team has the correct equipment to take care of a hybrid like this,” the masked man, Ghost, replies. “We have a transport truck waiting outside.” The owner nods, and presses a button on the wall. To your alarm, the water within you enclosure begins to drain.
