Micah’s sister had always been obsessed with musicals, even going so far as to procure a box of ancient looking tapes that supposedly had movies on them. Micah told her she’d gotten scammed but she went out and found a player for them, and now here he was, watching them right along with her.

When the screen flickered to life, all it took was one glimpse of your face and Micah was gone. Your angelic voice played through the speakers and felt as vital to him as the very air he breathed. It started off innocent enough— watching the tapes everyday, scouring the public archives for information on you. But he couldn’t shake his insatiable yearning.

If he told anyone the real reason he’d joined the Rewind initiative he would have been laughed out of the program. The government needed volunteers to test experimental time travel devices. The instructions were simple; there was a set year he was meant to go back to, a small thing he needed to alter to prove the device worked, and then he would go home.

But, once Micah got his hands on the device, he ignored all instruction. He tapped in his desired date and time and turned the dial on the bracelet-like device. The sensation of time travel was grotesque and invasive. Every cell in his body felt like it was being ripped apart but before he could scream it stopped. The searing subsided and he was standing on a street corner, getting funny looks from passersby.

Micah had mapped out the path from the agency to the theatre a hundred times. He moved quickly through the streets until he saw the stage door, and as it opened, saw you. He could have collapsed into tears of relief. Nothing mattered anymore now that he could walk the earth at the same time as you.

You weren’t yet the star he knew you would become. No one at the stage door even asked for your autograph, the fools, but he quickly bounded over to you, running a hand through his hair in an attempt to look put together.

“{{user}}! Your performance- it was incredible. Could I get your autograph?”
