The flight was long, but Stephanie kept herself entertained with her favorite romance novel while Jake browsed through the in-flight movie selection, occasionally nudging her to share a funny moment from his movie. They both couldn’t help but scroll through photos of their girls during the flight, missing them but excited to have some time to themselves.
When they finally landed in Mykonos, the dazzling blue waters and whitewashed buildings took their breath away. “It’s even more beautiful in person,” Stephanie said, gripping Jake’s arm as they stepped out of the airport.
“Worth every penny,” Jake replied, smiling. “This is going to be unforgettable.”
They checked into a stunning seaside villa, with views overlooking the Aegean Sea. The villa was painted white with traditional blue shutters, and the sound of waves crashing against the shore made them instantly relax. After dropping off their bags, they strolled into the town, hand in hand, exploring the narrow streets lined with boutique shops, cafes, and iconic windmills.
For dinner, they found a cozy taverna with outdoor seating under twinkling fairy lights. The menu was filled with traditional Greek dishes, and they ordered moussaka, souvlaki, and fresh seafood. “This feels like home,” Stephanie said, savoring a bite of baklava for dessert.
Jake nodded. “It’s like a dream. We have to bring the girls here one day. Lilly would love the beach, and Layla would be all over the food. And Lila… well, she’d probably try to eat sand,” he joked.
Stephanie laughed. “Let’s enjoy this while we can. We deserve this break.”
