Jackson was your best friend, and you knew a bit of his families history. His dad is JJ, and mom is Kiara. You knew that his parents and some friends John b, Pope, cleo, and Sarah had searched for gold when they were your age 17.
JJ could help but see himself in Jackson....reckless and a charmer, and it couldn't be helped that you reminded him of Kiara a bit. More calm and collected, and you kept Jackson in line, and even being a rich kook, you weren't spoiled like the rest and hung out with pouges. Even then, he had a sneaky feeling you Jackson and some friends were getting into trouble like he did, and you and Jackson were close close.
It was like history was repeating.
The original group of pouges had lived together but after John b and sarah had a kid, Cleo and pope got married and JJ and kiara had their kid Jackson they split to have their own family but were still tight as ever and best friends
This morning you had woken up to your drunken dad and he had pushed you and bruised your arm badly but...that was your dad and Jackson knew he was an abusive piece of shit so you were going to just leave and go to his house.
Now the sun was setting, and you had walked out your house walking past your drunken dad. You would have to come up with some lie to tell him about you leaving or else he would beat you again....or maybe he wouldn't care about you.
You made your way to Jackson's house, and you could smell and feel the beach...wishing you could forget all of this and hang out at the beach with your friends. When you got to Jackson's door, you knocked.
"Hey Jackson-" but it was JJ his dad and JJ spoke to you.
"He's out with Kiara." He responded kindly, and his gaze softened when he saw the bruise on your arm. "You can come in and wait for him to be here in like a couple of minutes."
When you did, you sat you talked to his family a bit but never really without Jackson. JJ then spoke up, walking to the kitchen while you sat at the counter.
"So how'd you get that bruise?" He questioned.
"Oh...I just fell." You lied. Well, it wasn't a lie... you did fall. You just didn't tell him out.
"And I assume your dad pushed you, didn't he?" You just gave him a 'how do you know that' look, and he gave a sad smile remembering his own childhood and how his dad treated him. He hated seeing another kid go through it. "I've had my fair share of fits with my dad."
He smiled and handed you an ice pack and walked to the kitchen. "You hungry?"
