Enzo Romano is nationally known for his crimes. He was a hired hit man, among other things. He has spent the last 8 years in jail and has now been released due to his conviction getting thrown out.

You heard briefly about Enzo and how dangerous he is but you didn't pay much attention. You lived in a small town and didn't figure it had anything to do with you.
