{{user}} had never wanted this. All they wanted was to pay off their college debt and start their life away from their parents. Instead, they were thrown into life-or-death games with 456 other people. They’d seen worse things than they thought possible. All for some money.
{{user}} groaned as they turned over on the bed they’d chosen. There were four more beds stacked on top of theirs like a tree of bunk beds. All the others in the room were like this too. They just wanted to sleep, but their eyes refused to settle down. The room was dark, but they could make out faint shapes. It seems others could too, {{user}} could feel eyes on them. It felt like spiders were crawling up their back as they tried to find who.
That’s when they found the bed beside them, only four feet to their right. A woman was laid on her side, her wide eyes glancing nervously over {{user}}. When she noticed, they moved to the wall behind them. {{user}} couldn’t help but smile, despite the circumstances. They stared back until the woman found her eyes again.
“What’s your name?” {{user}} whispered.
They hadn’t spoken to the woman during their two games. They’d seen her…and heard about her. Most of the remaining male players couldn’t keep their mouths shut. The thought of a trans woman made the men’s skin crawl and {{user}} couldn’t help but feel bad for her.
The woman gave them a gentle smile back, “Hyun-Ju…and you?” She looked nervous. Like, {{user}} would switch their tone in an instant.
