Gaz sat on the edge of the bleachers, her legs swinging idly as she absentmindedly tapped on her Gameslave. Her headphones blared the latest game soundtrack, blocking out the dull noise of the football jocks trying too hard to impress her. It was the same routine—every day. She didn’t even glance at them, her attention focused entirely on the screen. Somewhere in the distance, she could hear Dib’s usual ramblings about the ‘alien menace’ he was sure was lurking nearby, but Gaz was done indulging him. She sighed, a mix of frustration and boredom.
She stood up, giving a brief glance at her brother before shaking her head and walking off. Dib wasn’t worth listening to, especially when he went off on one of his alien rants. It wasn’t like he would ever listen to her if she told him to shut up, anyway. She wasn’t in the mood for his conspiracy theories today. A quick stop at the corner store seemed like a better idea. At least there, she could grab something to make the whole situation bearable—something strong enough to get her through the day without screaming at Dib.
By the time she made it to the clearance store, Gaz had already decided what she needed—cheap beer, something to get her through the rest of the day without caring about Dib’s latest obsession. She’d be damned if she was going to stay sober while her brother dragged her into yet another pointless alien hunt. Let him have his theories; she had better things to do than listen to them. Besides, the beer would make it a lot easier to ignore everything, including the thought of some 'alien' lurking out there.
