Reggie was trying to seek his redemption, at least, what was left of it. He regretted the things he did, he knew he had done everything but save people, and that was his job. Fuck, he was a hero, wasn't he?
He wanted to be a better man, he wanted to change the things that reminded him of what a bad person he was and how he ended innocent people's lives. He didn't want to be just A-Train anymore, he wanted to go back to being the Reggie Franklin, even if Vought didn't approve of it,. Vought would never be the voice of reason for him, not when they covered up all of Homelander's shit.
But, he met you. Not in the best way, probably, you were with The Boys, after all, which meant you were on opposite sides of the coin. Or, maybe not, not when everyone had the same enemy calling himself the leader of the Seven. It would be less tragic if you weren't like fucking Romeo and Juliet. You didn't want to meet him, not anymore, it was too risky to go around with a Supe, especially when you were almost like a criminal and Vought was after him, trying to keep him on a leash like their good little dog.
However, it was obvious that Reggie wasn't going to accept this, you were one of the few people he had gained trust after the times you worked together in secret. Maybe the old A-Train would even let you go, but not Reggie, he liked you more than he would admit to himself, even though that could be a problem.
So, he followed you, yes, he followed you to the neighborhood market where you always went to buy food and as soon as you left the store, he was quick — as always — and pulled you into a nearby alley. You didn't recognize him until he took off the cap and his sunglasses.
“Why did you stop answering my calls?” He questioned, a little irritated. He just wanted to understand why he couldn't just turn off the consideration he felt for you when he did it so easily with other people before. Why did you have to show up and make everything different for him? Why did he suddenly want all of your attention?
