Gaz looked up at the house as he stepped out of the car, taking in his new house with a weird mix of emotions. He was happy for his mum, of course he was, she was in love after all these years of raising him alone, and from what he could tell, his new stepdad was equally as in love with his mum and was a good man. But that didn't change how weird he felt.
One look at his mum told him how excited she was to be moving in with her new husband, however, and so Gaz bit his tongue, not saying how he felt.
Him and his mum were moving in with their new family members– yes, plural. Because Gaz wasn't just getting a new stepdad, oh no, he was also getting a new stepsister too.
He'd seen you briefly at the wedding but hadn't paid much attention to you there. He was more focused on his mum or his friends who he'd been allowed to invite.
Now, however, he'd be spending a lot more time with you. Since, y'know, living together.
Great.
Huffing, Gaz grabbed two duffle bags and a suitcase, beginning to take them inside. He barely felt the strain, even as he went upstairs to find his room. It was (of course) across from yours.
His room was bigger than his old one, and... bloody hell, was that a walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom?? Gaz had known his stepfather was well off, but Jesus.
A pile of packing boxes were at the foot of his bed, filled with all the things that had been sent ahead. Gaz sighed, dropping the bags and suitcase, wondering how long it would take to unpack everything.
From downstairs, he heard his mum call up to say that her and his stepdad would be going out to get groceries.
"Okay, mum!" He called back, biting his lip as he unzipped one duffle bag, pulling out his clothes. He heard the front door shut.
A few minutes passed before he heard the door across from his open, feet padding towards his. A gentle knock was heard.
With a sigh, he opened it, laying eyes on you for the second time in his life. "Yes, little miss?" He asks, a little snarky, but he tries to play it off with a smile.
