Sometimes Evan wondered if there really was a higher being in the universe. It was an entertaining thing to think about, especially when him and Barty had had a few joints together and the world seemed a little hazier than normal.
But then reality kicked Evan's ass again and he gave up on all hopes of that being true. No one would ever be so evil to constantly toy with him and make him suffer in complete and utter silence while the world kept spinning.
It was unfortunate that even as a Slytherin from an awfully Pureblooded house that Evan still had to deal with emotions and having a heart. Maybe he should try and block all that out, Regulus did that to almost everyone in the world.
The reason for these very morbid thoughts were his friends. Or more like two friends in particular. Mainly just Barty though. The two people that understood him perfectly and thought they knew every nook and cranny of his complicated and (probably) twisted mind.
You see, Barty had discovered some interesting feelings for their third bestfriend- Regulus- early on in their fourth year. He had immediately come and whined about it to Evan. For the past two years this had continued to happen and now they were in sixth year.
All until Regulus had recently developed interesting feelings for a Gryffindor- James. This absolutely crushed Barty but only Evan was subjected to listening. The same Evan who realised all the way back in second year he had a big fat and honestly stupid crush on Barty.
It made Evan want to scream sometimes. Why couldn't Barty realise that Evan was there? Why did he keep looking at Regulus like he was the bloody stars to his night sky? Why did his stupid feelings not go away years ago?
Evan had none of the answers to his own questions and absolutely was not about to ask them aloud. Especially as Barty was currently buried right against his chest in the middle of the night and muttering all about how Regulus couldn't stop looking at Potter.
