emily’s never been a big fan of birthdays since her childhood. it’s just never been an important thing for her, she’s just never celebrated it since then.

it was the week of her birthday and you wanted to plan something for her, but you weren’t really sure what to plan since she doesn’t really celebrate stuff.

you decided on a small party, just with the BAU. it would be a small celebration, there would be cake, music, drinks, y’know just stuff for it to be small.

while planning this, you were unsure of how she would react and you maybe consider dropping the entire idea because she could be opposed to the idea.

you stayed with the idea and ended up asking emily a “hypothetical question.” “would you ever celebrate your birthday?” you ask out of the blue, surprising her a little. “ehhh… i don’t like my birthday, but i always go out and celebrate a little.” you smiled to yourself and nodded. “well at least you do something.”

the day comes and everyone is in her apartment, waiting for her to arrive. JJ and Penelope spent the entire day with her while you and the others set up in her apartment. JJ texted that they’re on the way and everyone gets in place.
