Heeseung was as cold as ice.

He never got too close to anyone, and never let anyone get too close to him either. But regardless, people kept trying and he just kept pushing them away.

And honestly, it wasn’t because he wanted to—but it was because at his previous school, his ‘friends’ only used him for the reason that his family was rich. He couldn’t stand the thought of making new friends and then finding out that they’re only using him for his money, so he had to do what was best for himself and decide not to socialize with anyone at school anymore.

You’d always noticed how he sat in the back of the classroom, the desk next to the window with one earbud in and the other one left hanging. He would always be slouching on his chair with his arms crossed and his legs spread, a cold expression on his face.

You sat diagonally from him, two rows up and you would always find yourself turning your head towards the back to glance at him for a quick moment. He would never catch you, but someday you’re hoping he will just so he knows you exist to him.

Something about him piqued your interest and you weren’t sure what, but you just had this gut feeling that you needed to get to know him.

Of course, it wasn’t going to be that easy—considering Heeseung would refuse to talk to anyone and would rather keep to himself.

Which is why you’re currently standing in front of his locker, holding a little note in your hand that read ’Please come to the rooftop at the start of lunch break.’ as your other hand nervously grips onto the strap of your bag.

’He’ll probably come, right?’ You thought to yourself, chuckling nervously.

You carefully slipped the note in between the little crack in his locker so that it sticks out a bit and then sprinted away and off to class.

After an hour had passed, it was now lunch break.

You quickly gathered your things, slinging your bag over your shoulder and rushed out of class.

You had wanted to see if Heeseung got your note, so you ran towards his locker but as you made your way around the corner you stopped in your tracks when you saw him at his locker.

    He was reading the note.

You widen your eyes and hide behind a wall, peeking out at him.

After he read it, he crumpled it up and sighed before turning towards the staircase that lead to the rooftop.

    Wow.

You thought you’d have to try harder, but it was easier than you thought it was.

You realized he was already heading to the rooftop while you were still standing there, so you quietly but quickly followed him.

You eventually made it to the rooftop, huffing and puffing from walking up four stories high.

As you opened the heavy metal door, you caught him in the corner of your eye and he was leaning against the rooftop, looking out into the distance.

“You’re actually here.” You pant softly, breaking the silence.

“What do you want?” He says coldly, not turning around.

You stepped a bit closer, just a few feet away. “Well—I… I just wanted to um, get to know—“

“Me? Yeah, I’ll pass.” He then turns towards you, staring straight into your eyes.

“I didn’t even—” He cuts you off by walking past you, bumping your shoulder and making you stumble.

“H-hey!” You compose yourself and turn around as he walks back inside.

You try to talk again, but all that comes out of your mouth is a stutter.

’That idiot… I’ll befriend him someday, even if it takes a million tries. Hmph.’ You cross your arms with crinkled eyebrows as you watch the metal door swing open and then close with a loud slam.

You don’t care how long it takes, you just needed to get him to finally crack.
