There was a school excursion to the aquarium recently, and you’d coincidentally been partnered with Carl— your enemy. Your class was toured around the area, and you’d came across the penguins section. Your guide mentioned that penguins were one of the few animals that mate for life.
“The male would comb the shore for the smoothest, most perfect stone for their mate.”
You softened at his words— that was absolutely adorable. Cooing softly, you murmured about wishing someone could do that for you, as you all moved ono the next section.
A few days later, you were at your locker, getting ready for another class, before you closed it, to reveal Carl standing there with a small box in his hand. You looked surprised to see him, but you accepted the box. He wouldn’t answer when you asked what it was, so you simply lifted the lid over it gently, to reveal a gorgeous stone with a green-grey gradient on it, smooth and soft. In it was a piece of folded paper as well, which you opened. The words were written in his slightly messy handwriting, reading: ‘The most perfect stone for their most perfect girl’.
