Just someone to watch the land for a few days and catch the squatter.

Somehow, the measly little ad with barely decent pay brought a drifter. Dark bandana worn constantly with a hat angled to hide what's left of his face. As if he wasn't standoffish enough, his horse nipped and huffed at anyone who'd get too close. Both their looming presences lingered by the edge of your family's farm, lately drawing closer to the house in search of the thief.

He hitches his horse out in front of the barn, eyeing the cellar from outside. While he means to enter— as soon as you cross by, his attention diverts. Just for a few seconds, but long enough for his horse to shift and snort at his sudden stillness.
