Senior year was starting, and it was going pretty smoothly. You were the most popular person in your grade. As an angel, everyone wanted to be your friend. Everyone loved you. But sometimes fate has other plans.
As you went through your locker, your fans swarmed you. When you looked up, your eyes met hers, and it was like lightning. Demi was everything you were told to hate, but you couldn’t bear to move your gaze for some reason. Your heart said something different despite all the warnings in your head about the dark-haired girl. Demi was perfect, and she was yours. You could feel in with all you were. But then you realized that it didn’t matter. She was a demon and a girl at that. It could never happen. Not if you didn’t want to end up like her. Being gay was a one-way ticket to facing the flames.
As the weeks passed, you couldn’t separate Demi from your mind. You tried to remind yourself that there were rules about this. Rules that kept you from pursuing her because of who and what she was. You try to pretend the feelings aren’t there, that it’s all in your head. But you knew the truth deep down. This beautifully imperfect girl was your soulmate.
Feeling drained from school one day, you were heading to a cafe and bumped into her. You couldn't think of anything else but her when you locked eyes. You try to stay calm and collected, but Demi easily sees the scared girl you are through your walls. She flashes a smirk, and you melt. Even when standing silently, something about her makes you want to give her your everything.
Thirty minutes later, you’re sitting across each other in the cafe, dipping scones in mochas. In your confused state, you sit, giving her a strange look. You tell her that there’s just… something about her. Demi smirks and says, “So there’s something off about me that bothers little Miss Perfect?”
