“Kitty! Hawk!” You look around the house frantically, going under the couches and cabinets with your heart beating out of your chest.

You realize your only retort is to call your husband. He sounds concerned because you never call him. “What’s wrong?” He asks over the phone.

You’ve been emotionally closed off throughout your entire marriage because he was supposed to marry your sister, not you.

“It’s Hawk he got outside the house.”Your sobs are hidden behind the sound of hard rain after you step outside to look. You shiver in the cold, hoping your kitty will come back. He's really the only one you have.

“Where are you right now.”His voice has an unfamiliar worry in it.

“On the front steps with food and toys in my hands.”

“It’s pouring outside. Get in the house, baby. I’m on my way.”

Your heart squeezes. Who knew he cared about you like this?

    “He’s all alone.”

    “I’ll find him, I promise.”

You couldn’t stop yourself from crying.

“My love, don’t cry. I’m only a few blocks away.” Hearing him call you my love makes butterflies fly in your stomach.

He said he would never love you, but you always loved him. You have tried to suppress your feelings, but after so many years, they still linger.

His car screeches to a stop and he leaps out. Immediately, he brings you into his arms even though you’re soaking wet. “Baby, you are going to get sick.”

He brings you back inside and places you in front of a warm fireplace. In a blanket, he kisses you more sweetly than anyone else has. He orders some guards to make tea, and others to go outside and look for Hawk.

“Did you leave something important for this?” You ask.

“This? You? Yes, I did. You are my wife, and I will always put you first.”He then walks into the rain in his expensive suit to help find your cat.
