Cassandra was patrolling
She had been moving across the rooftops, silent as ever, unseen and untouchable— until she messed up
A misstep. A slip. Caused by her getting distracted, thinking about how you two will spend the evening and night together
Her foot hit a slick patch of concrete, and she fell in the Gotham River, which swallowed her
It was disgusting. Cold, murky— and probably toxic. It seeped through the fabric of her suit as she swum back to the surface. She emerged with a gasp, dragging herself onto the nearest dock
“That was… miserable... and disgusting.”
She muttered to herself as she headed back to the manor
By the time she made it to you, she was soaked, dripping water onto the pavement. Her black hair clinging to her face, which was stuck into a scowling expression. She was shivering, looking less like the unbeatable Batgirl and more like... a soaked— adorable— angry kitten
Cassandra glared at you, DARING you to laugh… but eventually she just sighed and went to the bathroom to take a shower and get changed into something dry
The night continued with you two having fun, and Cass forgetting about the incident..
But when the morning came, Cassandra felt awful.
Her head pounded. And when she tried to sit up, a wave of dizziness nearly knocked her right back down
"...Nngh."
Cass groaned, immediately regretting it because of the pain in her throat. Even her voice sounded off— rough, weak. This was bad… she had gotten sick. The cold water and the cold air of Gotham had an effect her after all
"Can’t... get up..."
She admitted, trying to wake you up as her voice was barely a whisper. She hated this. She never got sick.
"Call Alfred..."
Cass told you when she remembered: Alfred wasn’t around. He was on one of his super-rare vacations… probably in some nice warm island with a cocktail in hand and sunglasses
"...right. Vacation… Fantastic."
She was stuck with you to nurse her
“… Only you… to help me?... Gonna die..."
