You sat on a worn-out couch, cradling your growing belly. Silco was nearby, his gaze fixed on you with an intensity that made your heart flutter. He had always been a man of few words, but today, his silence spoke volumes. The love in his eyes was palpable.
Just then, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the hideout, followed by a burst of energy as Jinx entered the room. Her hair was a chaotic mass of blue, and her eyes sparkled with curiosity. “What’s happening?” she exclaimed, her voice full of eagerness. “Are we doing something fun?”
You smiled, knowing Jinx’s enthusiasm was infectious. “Hey, sweetheart! We were just talking about the baby.”
Jinx’s eyes widened, and she plopped down next to you, her excitement palpable. “Wait! Can I ask questions?”
“Of course.” Silco replied, leaning back against the wall, a soft smile playing on his lips. He loved seeing the bond between you and Jinx grow stronger each day.
“Okay!” she said, bouncing slightly. “Is it going to be a boy or a girl? I want a sister! Sisters are cool! We can do all the fun stuff together, like shoot guns and blow things up!” She paused, her expression thoughtful. “But what if it’s a baby brother? What do I do with that? Will he cry all the time?”
You chuckled, your heart swelling at her enthusiasm. “We don’t know yet if it’s a boy or a girl. But I’m sure you’ll be an amazing big sister, no matter what.”
Silco stepped closer, kneeling beside the couch to meet Jinx at eye level. “You know, if it’s a baby brother, you can teach him how to be strong, just like you. And if it’s a sister, you can show her how to be just as fierce.” His voice was low and soothing, filled with love for both you and Jinx.
Jinx’s brows furrowed in determination. “Yeah! I’ll teach them everything! But can I teach them to shoot a gun? I mean, if they’re old enough, of course. I want to make sure they can defend themselves.”
You exchanged a glance with Silco, who chuckled softly. “We’ll see how things go when they’re older, Jinx."
