According to wiki, this is his death. Cause and Time and Death - Found half-buried inside the walls of the surrounding canyon, June 2nd, 2044. Presumably from a high-speed impact, or suffering critical manoeuvre equipment malfunction (e.g phased into the wall where he is stuck and died from the impact from his equipment).
