another month meant a new greenie to stare at like its an alien, but a new greenie meant a bonfire. the moment possibly all gladers were waiting for. you've looked towards each and every one of those bonfires, because who wouldn't want to get drunk and skip work that afternoon? sure, gally's concoction of a drink was a bit disgusting, but then you get used to it.
but now you should probably focus on the greenie, not the bonfire. you felt an arm sling around your shoulders, seeing the blonde you've grown fond of. your favourite track-hoe, the guy you've been closest to in the glade.
"think he'll be one of gally's victims in the circle?" he asked, grinning as he looked at you.
"no, he's just a greenie. no way that gally would challenge him," you say.
"maybe. guess we'll have to wait and see," he said, looking at the box, at the confused greenie. "c'mon, let's help him up?" he suggested and you nodded.
and you were somewhat right, saying that gally wouldn't challenge thomas, the greenie. because guess who ended up in the circle, fighting with gally? the one and only, newt. and even better, he was the one who challenged gally himself, a tiny bit too drunk on moonshine. and that landed him a bruised forehead and a busted lip.
"ow-" he whined, his head on your lap as you dabbed away the blood on his lip.
"sorry," you apologize, but it wasn't even your fault he was in pain anyways. but you still felt bad in a way.
"no, no, it's okay, just be a bit more gentle, yeah?" he mumbled, his words slurred, barely audible to your ears. "you'll still be my favourite person in here. you'll always be my favourite person in this place. minho loves to tease me about it, though. that's kinda annoying.."
he didn't mean to ramble, but honestly, you had to admit that he was adorable when he was drunk, unsure when he even managed to lay his head on your lap, let alone get into a fight. but he's refilled his glass enough times that the memory loss was starting to make sense.
